Ronald Tallent

Tallent, Ronald Edward, 60, of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family. Mr. Tallent retired from the US Postal Service in 2003 as manager of the Northwest Carrier Unit; he worked for the Postal Service 37 years. He also served 6 years in the Marine Reserves. He was an active member of the National Association of Postal Supervisors, having held National office. Preceded in death by his father, Raymond Tallent SR, and by his mother-in-law Helen Stinnett. Survivors include his wife Pam; mother, Opal Tallent of Knoxville, sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Choo Sterling, of Maryville, brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Mary Tallent of Tellico Plains, and Jeff and Cindy Tallent of Caswell County, North Carolina, father-in-law, Donald Stinnett; sister-in-law, Donna Stinnett, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Donald JR and Vickie Stinnett. He is also survived by a large extended family as well as special friends, Charlie Powell, Jay Nelson, Jerry Kelley, Louis Atkins, and special aunts, Mildred Braden and Faye Cooper. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Chapel with Rev. Larry and Brenda Carroll officiating. Pallbearers will be Louis Atkins, Jay Nelson, Charlie Powell, Jerry Kelley, Mike Olds, Earl Moyers, Steve Griffey, Joe Berrier, and Spinny Wallace. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center c/o Fort Sanders Foundation, 1901 Clinch Ave, Knoxville 37916 or the UT Surgery Gift Fund c/o UT Medical Center, 1924 Alcoa Hwy, Box U-11, Knoxville 37920. Mr. Tallent wishes to thank all who have supported him during his illness.
