Edward Charles Bigelow

Edward Bigelow, age 100, of Seymour, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2006 at his daughters home. He was a pioneer in aviation and a technical advisor on P-47’s during WWII in Iran. He was a teacher of flying and a skilled pilot himself. He was a trader in aviation parts and airplanes. In the 1970’s Eddie owned a 160 acre farm in New Jersey in which he farmed organically, raised Pheasants and Quail. He was on the planning commission for Blairstown New Jersey and attended Rutgers University studying environmental issues in the 1970’s. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a founder of “The Table of Plenty” in Myrtle Creek Oregon which insured senior citizens would come together for one meal a week. He was preceded in death by his wives, Rose Bigelow, and Darinka Bigelow, grandson, William Bigelow, and brothers, George, Stanley, and Walter Bigelow Survivors: Daughter: Lucy Carleton Sons and daughters-in-law: Edward Bigelow Sr. and wife Connie, John Bigelow and wife Jilly, Robert Bigelow and wife Rose. Grandchildren: Edward Bigelow III, Kathy Smith, Stacey Mikulcik, Vickie Capes, Lee Bigelow, and Robert William Bigelow. 17 Great grandchildren Sister: Loretta Dodge A memorial mass will be held Thursday, February 23, 2006 7:30 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Thomas O’Connell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 PM Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church.
