Ruth Mae Burchell Large

Ruth Mae Burchell Large, age 81 of Sevierville, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2006, at the Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Mrs. Large was born September 19, 1924, and attended Pittman Center High School. After graduation she received her formal education at East Tennessee State University. Mrs. Large taught school in Sevier and Blount Counties for 40 years. The majority of her teaching career was spent at Seymour Primary School where she loved and touched the lives of hundreds of Sevier County children. Mrs. Large’s favorite pastimes were gardening and family genealogy searches. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Zora Burchell and brother Herman Burchell. Survivors: Husband: Johnny Scott Large Daughters: Mala Elese Spicer and husband Ronnie, Penny Ann Alexander and husband Danny Grandchildren: Courtney Renee Spicer, April Danielle Alexander, Veronica Spicer Huff and husband Richard Sisters: Ramah Knight and husband Jim Knight, Naoma Winningham and husband Lowell Nieces: Irene Baldwin, Roberta Thomas Nephews: Edward Knight, Billy Thomas In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Seymour Primary School Library, 717 Boyd’s Creek Hwy, Seymour, TN 37865.
