Messer, Alfred (Butch), age 55, of Fountain City, passed away Saturday December 30, 2006. He was a devoted member and deacon of Cornerstone Christian Church. He was an employee of KUB for almost 20 years. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and departed this life doing what he loved best. Preceded in death by his father, Jeter Junior Messer; and grandmother, Ethel Cox. Survivors include his devoted and loving wife of 27 years, Velina Messer; mother, Alice Messer; son and daughter-in-law, Karl and Jennifer Messer; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Wayne McClain; grandchildren, Melody McClain, Ashley McClain, Hunter Messer, and Kayla Messer; loving mother and father-in-law, Glynn and Vee Beck; sisters, Barbara Vest, and Elizabeth McCulloch; brother and sister-in-law, Chico and Stacy Messer; brother-in-law, Michael Beck of Virginia Beach; uncles, David Messer and Garrison Messer both of Marshall, NC, Theodore Messer of Washburn, TN, and Willie Cox of Knoxville; aunt, Faye Reese of Marshall, NC; and several nieces, nephews, many dear friends and co-workers. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm and the funeral service at 8 pm Tuesday at the Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel with Rev. Carl Bridges and Rev. Jeremy Cox officiating. Interment will be 10 am Wednesday at Lynnhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Christian Church, 1411 Lantana Lane, Knoxville, TN 37912. Arrangements by Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 W. Adair Drive.
