Services for Mr Russell Wilson will be held, December 27, 2006, at 07:00 PM at the following locations: Rocky Hill Baptist Church 7409 Northshore Drive Knoxville, TN 37919 865-691-7685 Wilson, Russell - age 82 of Knoxville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2006. Mr. Wilson was born in Mitchell County, North Carolina on July 19, 1924. A veteran of the United States Navy, he was retired from the Knoxville News Sentinel after thirty eight years. He was a faithful member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School Director. Mr. Wilson loved fishing and hiking with his wife, Louise, gardening, and golfing with his friends. He is preceded in death by son, Frank Russell Wilson, sister Patsy Ann Wilson, mother and father, Claude and Ida Wilson. Survived by his loving wife, Louise; daughter, Susanne McLendon; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Janie Wilson; grandchildren, Angie McLendon, Rusty and Julie McLendon, Matthew Wilson; great-grandsons, Carter and Bennett McLendon; sisters Virginia Johnson and Lois Wilson; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Mitzi Wilson. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27 at Rocky Hill Baptist Church, 7409 Northshore Drive. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Lyons View Pike. The family wishes to express special thanks to the caregivers of Adventa Hospice for their ministry of mercy and grace.
