James L. Drinnen, Jr.

James L. Drinnen, Jr., age 85 of Wears Valley, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 19, 2005 as a result of an automobile accident. Mr. Drinnen was an Army veteran of World War II and was a mechanic for the Sevier County Board of Education. He was preceded in death by his son Carl Drinnen, parents Jim and Lena Drinnen, brother Bruce Drinnen, sisters Gladys Atchley, Lois Fox and Iva Belcher, and nephew Danny Drinnen. Survivors: Wife: Ruby Lawson Drinnen Daughter: Joyce Shults Daughter-in-law: Clara Drinnen Grandchildren: Travis Shults and wife Suzanne, Diane Parton and husband Bruce, Amanda Hemphill and husband Brad Very special great-grandson: Jesse James Shults Sisters: Joann Styles and husband Walt, Virginia Ogle Brother: Troy “Red” Drinnen and wife Lou Rhea Many nieces, nephews, and special friends Special cousin: Reece Drinnen and wife Wilma Funeral service 7 PM Saturday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Hickman and Rev. W.A. Galyon officiating. A eulogy will be delivered by Travis Shults. Interment 1 PM Sunday in Mattox Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be Travis Shults, Brad Hemphill, Bruce Parton, Jeff Styles, Ronnie Lay and Jimmy Drinnen. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Saturday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
