Elizabeth A. Ascue

Ascue, Elizabeth A. ?age 84, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at her home in Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her only son, Michael; brothers, Herbert Lester, Ben Lester, Harry Lester and a sister, Polly Lester. Ms. Ascue was retired after 40 years of service with Kern?s Bakery where she served as secretary to the late John Greer. She was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II. Ms. Ascue was a devoted member of South Knoxville Baptist Church. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by sisters, Virginia Brown of Bristol, Virginia and Ruth Yost of Bluefield, Virginia and brother, Jack Lester of Bristol, Virginia. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews as well as grandnieces and grandnephews. The family would like to extend special thanks and gratitude to her caring friends and neighbors, especially, Alvin Norris and Wilma Reeves. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Wednesday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Family and friends will meet at Greenhills Memorial Gardens in Richlands, Virginia on Friday for 11 AM interment services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
