Walter Eugene Jäger, born in Pfortzheim, Germany, June 5, 1922, and died Sunday, August 23, 2005. He lived in Wears Valley with his wife Janette and has thrilled Sevier Countians with his magical piano music since the early 1980’s. Music was his life and he performed for audiences from New England to Florida, all over the Eastern United States and in Israel. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the Philippines. Survivors: Wife: Janette Jäger Son: Walt Rooney Daughter: Linda Burney Hartmann Grandchildren: Alex Rooney, Lane Burney, R.J. Burney Sisters: Doris Jannke, Irene McNally, Evelyn Cuddigan Numerous nieces and nephews In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Sevier County Food Ministries, P.O. Box 6042, Sevierville, TN 37864-6042 or Friends of the Smokies, P.O. Box 5650, Sevierville, TN, 37864. The family will receive friends 10 AM – 2 PM Friday at the family home, 3248 Manis Road in Wears Valley. Graveside service and interment 2:30 PM Friday in Headrick’s Chapel Cemetery.
