William H. “Gramps” Ownby, age 99 of Greeneville passed away Friday April 22, 2005 at Greeneville Care and Rehab where he had been a resident for some time. He was preceded in death by his wife Veat McCarter Ownby. Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law: J.T. and Barbara Jean Ownby of Bristol, Tennessee Daughter and son-in-law: Betty Cate and Frank Owen of Bristol, Tennessee Granddaughter: Cindy Cate Morgan and husband Mike of Lorena, Texas Sister: Sarah Ogle of Gatlinburg Sister-in-law: Julia McCarter of Sevierville Several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews Funeral service 3 PM Monday at Atchley’s Smoky Mountain Chapel with his grand nephew Will Beckner officiating and eulogy delivered by his granddaughter.
