Ralph Sims

James Ralph Sims, 88, of Sevierville, peacefully breathed his last at his daughter, Dorothy, and son-in-law David Johnson’s home on Tuesday morning, April 5, 2005. He joined his beloved wife, Gladys, his parents, Mack and Belle Sims, and other family and friends in heaven. He was a master carpenter with Blalocks for many years and his craftsmanship can be seen on numerous homes and landmark buildings in Sevier County. He was a lifelong member, teacher, quartet singer and leader at Providence Baptist Church. In addition to his daughter and son-in-law, he is survived by his grandsons, Greg Johnson and his children, Reed, Haley and Micah; Jeff Johnson and wife Deana and their sons, Jonathan and Daniel; and Gary Johnson and wife Alisa and their sons, Dexter and Jamison. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Joy Sims and his sister, Ruth LaFollette. The funeral service will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. W.A. Galyon and Rev. Lowell Wilson officiating. Graveside service and interment will be Friday morning 11:00 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, Sevier County. The family will receive friends 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville.(www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
