Pauline H. (Mamaw) Kirkland

Kirkland, Pauline H. (Mamaw), age 81 of South Knoxville, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2004 at Baptist Hospital. Mrs. Kirkland was a member of Meridian Baptist Church. She had been active in the Eastern Star as a member of South Knoxville Chapter #389 OES and the AREME Chapter #466 OES. She had served as a Grand Instructor for District 38 and was also a member of past Matron and Patrons Association. She was a retired employee of the Ira A. Watson Company and had been a long time volunteer with the Baptist Hospital Ladies Auxillary. She was a past officer and active member of the Mountain Vista Garden Club. Mrs. Kirkland loved baseball and music. She was preceded in death by parents, Richard and Pearl Crawford Hancock; husband, William F. (Fred) Kirkland and a brother, Clifford Hancock. Survivors are sons: Chris Kirkland and wife, Sandra of South Knoxville, Phillip Kirkland and wife, Kay of Karns; grandchildren; Sarah, Ali Christopher, Sam, Lindsey and Zach; special friend of many years, Hilton McCammon; brothers, Clayton Hancock and wife, Jane, Donald Hancock and wife, Harriet; sister, Mildred Solomon; sister-in-law, Shirley Hancock, all of Knoxville. She had several beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted 8:00 PM Friday at Berry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Eastern Star services will be conducted. Family and friends will meet at Woodlawn Cemetery at 11:30 AM Saturday for interment services. Those who wish, in lieu of flowers, may give memorials to Mountain Vista Garden Club, c/o Avis Evans, 2024 Hopewell Drive, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920 or the AREME Chapter #466 OES, 5400 N. Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37918. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 pm Friday, prior to the services at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
