Charles Johnson

Mr. Charles F. Johnson Jr. age 76, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2004 at his home. He was a member of the North Knoxville Church of God and was retired from Aamco Transmission after some 20 years of service. Mr. Johnson was a very talented musician and enjoyed sharing that talent with his family and friends. At the young age of eleven he and his brother Willie began performing on The Midday Merry-Go-Round radio show and were known as the ?River Rats?, a name given them by show host Lowell Blanchard. Mr. Johnson went on to perform show dates with several popular entertainers to include; Chet Atkins, Kitty Wells, Bill Carlyle, Archie Campbell and Johnny Wright. He is preceded in death by parents ; Charles F. Sr. and Ellen Johnson, sisters Irene and Lillie and infant son, David Scott Johnson. Survived by loving wife; Daisy Johnson Funeral services will be Tuesday evening at 8 P.M. at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel with Reverend George Pressley officiating. Family and friends will meet Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery for a 1:00 P.M. interment service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Lynnhurst- Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 W. Adair Dr. lynnhurstchapel.com
