John Walker Ownby, Jr. age 84 of Sevierville, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Fort Sanders Sevier Nursing Home. He was a member of Pearl Valley Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Printha Ownby; brothers Conley, Lumie, Herbert and George Ownby; sisters Delia Rolen, Hettie Rolen and Myrtle Howard. Survivors: Wife: Irene Stinnett Ownby Son and daughter-in-law: Brett and Debbie Ownby Daughters and sons-in-law: Johnnie and Harold McCarter, Wanda and Max Watson, Helen and Gene Atchley Brother and sister-in-law: Cletis and Mattie Ownby Grandchildren: Melissa Ownby, Kimberly Ownby, Amy France and husband Wayne, Junior Watson and wife Cindy, Cody McCarter, Jesse Atchley, Richard Lindsey, David Lewis Great-grandson: Daniel Watson Several nieces and nephews Funeral service 7 PM Thursday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Tom McMahan, Rev. Kim McCroskey, and Rev. Andy Ball officiating. Family and friends will meet 10 AM Friday in Ownby Cemetery for interment with military honors provided by American Legion Post # 104. Pallbearers will be Junior Watson, Cody McCarter, Jesse Atchley, Bill Justus, Richard Lindsey and Wayne France. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Thursday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
