Luther Stephen McGill

Luther Stephen McGill, age 78 of South Knoxville passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at home. He was born September 21, 1925. He was a member of New Hopewell Baptist Church, and was the owner of the Mt. Olive Market. Steve was a local politician and former constable. He was awarded the rank of Honorary Colonel in the United States Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by this parents, Joseph Walter and Carrie Harris McGill, uncle and WWII USA Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Troy A. McGill, brothers, Walter O “Chick” McGill, William Wesley (Bill) McGill, Charles Beecher McGill, sister, Mary Love Maloy. Survivors: His beloved wife of 53 years: Mildred Elizabeth Langston McGill Daughter Debra McGill Baxley Sons and daughters-in-law: Ronald G. and Penny Reason Stephen C and Rhonda McGill J. Walter and Dee Dee McGill Troy Charles McGill Darryl Wes and Donna McGill Bowden Wyatt McGill Brother and sister-in-law: David H. and Sandi McGill Sister: Dorothy Ann Dockery Sister-in-law: Rose Cortez McGill Grandchildren: Michelle, Heather, Mary Elizabeth, Kimberly, Scott, Conner, McKenzie, Lauren, David, Tony, Anna, Melanie, Alebia, Angelica, Sophia. Great-grandchildren: Antoinette, Anthony, Aimee, Caitlin and Gavin. Several nieces and nephews. He will be loved and missed by many, and he will always be with us. The family would like to thank all the nurses, aides, social worker, and chaplains for all the care given to them. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: UT Hospital Home Care Service/Hospice, 2200 Sutherland Ave. Suite 102, Knoxville, TN 37919. Family and friends will meet 11AM Friday at Mt.
