Willis (Bill, Papaw) Thomason

Thomason, Willis (Bill, Papaw), age 83, of South Knoxville, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2004 at Brakebill Nursing Home. He was born in Knoxville and was a member of Stock Creek Baptist Church; veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II; District Commissioner of the Boy Scouts in South Knoxville; retiree of Robert Shaw; and a graduate of Young High, class of 1940. Throughout everything, he remained strong and provided support and love for everyone. He was a huge part of everyone?s lives and will always be loved, remembered and missed. Preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Barsha King; daughter, Linda Garrett and son, Billy Thomason. Wife, Helen Law Thomason; daughter-in-law, Karen Thomason; grandchildren, Edwin Keith Garrett and wife, Natale; Michael Jason Garrett and wife, Angela; Jill Thomason, Michael Thomason, and Michelle Hicks, all of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Kara, Preslie, Lakin, Race and Dakota. Funeral service 8:00 PM Tuesday, Berry Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Gene Wood officiating. Family and friends will meet at Mt. Olive Cemetery Wednesday for 11:00 AM graveside services with Rev. Otis (Buddy) Long officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stock Creek Baptist Church, 8106 Martin Mill Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
