Florence Cope Bush

Florence Cope Bush of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2004. She was born March 29, 1933 in Tremont, Tennessee. A lifelong student of the history of the Smoky Mountains and its people, she was the author of books about the Smoky Mountain area: Dorie: Woman of the Mountains by the University of Tennessee Press; Ocona Lufta Baptist: Pioneer Church of the Smokies; and If Life Gives You Scraps, Make a Quilt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dora Woodruff Cope and Fredrick Cope; brothers, Paul Cope, Don Cope; and sister, Edith Fox. Survivors: Husband: Harvey C. Bush Daughter: Margaret (Maggie) Bush Brothers: Rev. Charles Cope, Rev. Dr. William Wayne Cope, Dwight Cope and Fredrick Cope Sisters: Wilma Williamson and Jeane Sexton Family and friends will meet 11 AM Saturday in Middle Creek Cemetery for graveside service and interment with Rev. W.W. Cope officiating. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Friday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
