Max Stanton

Stanton, Max, age 60, of South Knoxville, passed away Saturday July 10, 2004 at St. Mary?s Residential Hospice. He was a member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church, Oriental Lodge #453, and Scottish Rite Temple. Mr. Stanton was an employee of the Tennessee Department of Mental Health, a former employee of Oak Ridge National Laboratory Y-12 Plant, and also served as a deputy for the Knox county Sheriff?s Department. He was a graduate of South High School. Preceded in death by father, Ollie H. Stanton, and sister, Wilma Jean Stanton Daws. Mother, Mattie Stanton; daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Tommy Smith; son, Michael Stanton; grandchildren, Aaron Williams and wife Jessica, Chelsea Smith, Brooke Stanton, and Michael Stanton II; great-grandson, Michael Lee Allen; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Hubert Davenport of Johnson City, Mildred and Charles Johnson of Knoxville, Gale and Ken Haynes of Nashville; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral service 2:30 PM Monday, Berry Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Dennis Ford and Rev. Pat Polis officiating. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be B.A. Young, Gary Ingle, Jim Massey, Todd Young, Rick Davenport, and Kevin Davenport. Honorary pallbearers will be Security Guards at Lakeshore Mental Health, and Tommy Smith and Aaron Williams. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary?s Residential Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday with a Masonic Service at 8:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
