MASSINGALE, EDGAR LEE ?PETE? age 88 went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2004 at St. Mary?s Hospital. Member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Was formerly a pitcher with the Lonesome Pine Baseball League in the early ?30?s. Retired from Alcoa Aluminum with 36 years of service having helped organize and later became plant chairman of the AFL-CIO steel workers union. He was concerned with helping the ? working man?. Past President of Halls Democrat Club. Member of the Bob Temple North side YMCA where he remained active until his death. Mr. Massingale was very proud of his family and is survived by loving wife of 63 years, Wanda Hubbs Massingale. Daughters and sons-in-law: Sandra and Ray Smyth, Brenda and Jack Waters, Sheila and Ronnie McNutt; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Jan Massingale; Grandchildren: Rebecca Carter, Amy Cofer, Kelli Jones, Audra Dickert, Ronnie Massingale, Jr., Bryan Massingale, Laura Massingale, Dustin McNutt, Darren McNutt; GreatGrandchildren: Morgan Carter, Andy and Kate Cofer, Ryan Jones, Ronald Massingale, III, Gabriel Massingale. His Family finds great strength in remembering his teaching that we are the ?Same Flesh and Blood.? Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 pm at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel with Rev. Jack Homesley and Dr. Charles Earl officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be grandsons; Ronnie, Jr., and Bryan Massingale, Dustin and Darren McNutt; sons-in-law: Ray Smyth, Jack Waters, Ronnie McNutt, brother-in-law Fred Dodson. The family will receive friends 12 pm ? 2 pm on Saturday. Arrangements by Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 W. Adair Dr., Knoxville, TN 37918 (865-689-8888) is serving the family.
