Louis Edward Schneider

Louis Edward Schneider, age 77 died Friday, April 2, 2004, at his home in Pittman Center, TN. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he lettered in track and cross country. He worked many years as an advertising executive. He was a lifelong running enthusiast – a participant, coach and race developer. He founded two businesses in Louisville, KY, Louis Schneider Advertising and Jogger – Runner – Racer. He had a deep love for the Great Smoky Mountains and was an avid hiker. He was a member of the Gatlinburg Presbyterian Church and the Gatlinburg Rotary Club. He was past treasurer of the church’s day care center and a past member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Green, and his sister, Virginia Whaley. Survivors: Daughter: Ellen Son: Howard And their mother Doris Schneider Son-in-law: Steve VanDine Daughter-in-law: Bette Schneider Grandchildren: John, Philip, Peter, Elizabeth, and Mary Memorial service 7 PM Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Gatlinburg Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 6-7PM at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Gatlinburg Presbyterian Church Day Care Center, 237 Reagan Dr, Gatlinburg TN 37738. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
