Scates, Zoe Holbert, age 77, of South Knoxville, passed away October 19, 2003. Member of Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church and attended New Hopewell Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Joe and Georgia Kimbrough Holbert; son, Joey Scates; brothers, Paul, Bill, Dee, and Bob Holbert; sister, Margaret Hill. Husband, Kenny Scates; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Steve Hicks; grandaughters: Tracy and John McKinley, Jody Scates, Alecia & Brandon Hyatt, Kelly and Tate Monday, Rachel Scates; great-grandchildren: Zoey, Zach, and Zarik McKinley; Austin and Cameron Monday; sister, Tom Fee; step-sister, Marg Jones; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet at 12:00 Noon Tuesday at New Hopewell Cemetery for graveside services, Rev. Mark Williams officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
