Clyde J. Bell, Sr.

Bell, Sr. Clyde J., age 80, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Monday, June 16, 2003 at Parkwest Hospital. Member of Old Beverly Baptist Church and Bright Hope Lodge # 557 F&AM.; Veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and two Oak Leaf Clusters. Preceded in death by parents, Cary and Grace Bell; wife of 57 years, Minnie G. Bell; sisters, Aileen Bell, Helen Lebow and Marian Smith; brother, Kenneth L. Bell; brother-in-law, Burl Lee; and sister-in-law, Margaret Bell. Daughter Brenda Shumate; son, C.J. Bell; grandson, Daniel B. Bell; great-granddaughter Shealee Bell, all of Knoxville; sisters, Virginia Palmer and husband, Avery of Louisville, TN; Dorothy Lee of Glasgow, KY; brothers, Harold Bell of Knoxville; Herman Bell and wife, Bobbie of Forestburg, TX; several nieces and nephews. Masonic services will be conducted by Bright Hope Masonic Lodge #557 F & AM just prior to the funeral service which will be at 8:00 PM Wednesday, Berry Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. David Rhines officiating. Family and friends will meet at Ballards Chapel Cemetery, Old Topside Rd., Louisville, TN Thursday for an 11:30 AM interment service. Full military honors will be conducted by Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
