Frank L. Berendy

Berendy, Frank L., age 75, of South Knoxville, formerly of St. Louis, MO, passed away Monday, February 10, 2003 at Baptist Hospital. He was a longtime member of Holy Ghost Church where he served as an usher. He was a real estate developer as well as owner and operator of Mill Fabrics for many years. He served our country during World War II in the Merchant Marines and during the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy Air Corp. Preceded in death by parents, Louis and Maria Berendy and stepmother, Johanna Berendy. Wife, Lucille Berendy; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and "Duke" Baker; grandsons, Matthew S. Baker and wife, Brooke, M. Andrew Baker, and Christopher L. Baker; special cousin, Joseph Zimmermann and wife, Florence; brother-in-law, Ralph Schneider and wife, Myrna; and other nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday at Holy Ghost Church with Father Xavier Mankel and Father John O'Neill officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Cole Neuroscience Center at UT, 1928 Alcoa Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday with Christian Wake Service at 8:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway.
