Ray C. Godfrey, Jr., age 57 of Seymour, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 12, 2003. He served as fleet manager for Sevier County since 1995 and County Commissioner since 1998. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam, a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church, retired from Seymour Fire Department and a retired factory representative with Subaru of America. Survivors: Wife: Judy Godfrey Sons and Daughters-in-law: Ray C. Godfrey, III and wife Melissa Billy and Regina Godfrey and children Danielle and Alex Ray Godfrey Daughter and Son-in-law: Lori and Brian Mathis and daughter Julie Mother: Georgia Godfrey Mother-in-law: Cecile Underwood Special aunt: Margie McCarrell Funeral service 2 PM Friday at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, Seymour with Rev. Dallas Gibson, Rev. Terry Parton, and Chaplain Paul Trumpore officiating. Interment will follow in Chilhowee Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-9 PM Thursday Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
