Bud Coplen

“Bud” Coplen, age 71 of Sevierville, died Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at his home. He was a member of Murphy’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Coplen came to Sevierville in 1965 with Electro-Voice and also worked for Ten-Tec. He was active in Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Little League. Mr. Coplen was involved in the construction of the Smoky Mountain Queen that sailed from Sevierville to New Orleans in 1976. He was preceded in death by his father Nile Coplen and daughter Marsha Ann Coplen. Survivors: Wife: Carolyn Coplen Son: Carl Coplen and wife Debbie Daughters: Jean Webb and husband Bee; Karen Moore Grandchildren: Courtnie and Bradley Webb, Jami and Dustin Moore, Taylor Coplen Mother: Helen Coplen Brothers and sisters-in-law: Duane and Patty Coplen, Richard and Karen Coplen, Jim Coplen, Connie Coplen, Tom Coplen, David and Addie Coplen Sister and brother-in-law: Nila and Bob Gerhold Brother and sisters-in-law: Richard and Marilou Wilson, Ellen Wilson Funeral service 7 PM Thursday in the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Castle officiating. Family and friends will meet 10 AM Saturday at Middle Creek Cemetery for interment. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Thursday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
