Newell E. Smelcer

Newell E. Smelcer, age 66, of Sevierville, passed away Saturday October 5, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Whaley Smelcer, daughter, Joann Smelcer, parents, Ephraim and Lucrettie Ownby Smelcer, and brothers, Winfred and Clay Smelcer. Survivors: Special friend: Ann King Sisters: Ruth Watts, Mae Fox and husband Ray Brothers: Clyde Smelcer, Hugh Smelcer and wife Erma Sisters-in-law: Fayette Smelcer, Grace Smelcer Several nieces and nephews Many special friends from Creswell’s and Mt. Valley Market and a host of other friends. Funeral service 7 PM Monday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with the Rev. Sanders Whaley and Rev. Melvin Carr officiating. Interment 10 AM Tuesday in Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews, Dwight, Larry, Timmy and Robin Smelcer, Jonathan and Jason Whaley, Randy Watts and Max Fox.
