James A. Bales

Bales, James A., age 71, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday evening, May 18, 2002 at his home. He was a member of Meridian Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the US Army. Mr. Bales grew up in the Thorn Grove area and attended Carter High School and was retired from Lay Packing Company. He also worked at Eagles Landing Golf Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Leona Hampton Bales and a brother, Carl R. Bales. Barbara Ray Bales, wife of 51 years; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Ann Bales of Jacksonville, FL; Jimmy and Connie Bales of Maryville, TN; David and Carol Bales of Knoxville; grandchildren, Jeremy Bales of Athens, GA; Lisa Bales of Athens, GA; Lindsay and Stephanie Bales of Maryville; Tate and Cole Geren and Seth Bales of Knoxville; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Bill Harrison of Chattanooga; 2 special sisters-in-law and brothers in-law, Jimmie and Jerry Christian of Columbia, SC, and Carolyn and Pope Watson of Atlanta, GA. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at Highland South Cemetery with the Rev. Dana Fachman and the Rev. Kirk Werner officiating. Memorials may be made to Meridian Baptist Church, 6513 Chapman Hwy. Knoxville, TN 37920. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Meridian Baptist Church.
