Mary Frances Davidson

Mary Frances Davidson, age 97, passed away May 15, 2002 at Sevier County Health Care Center. Reared in Middlesboro, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Charles P. and Bessie May Davidson. She was preceded in death by her sisters Virginia Cooper and Henrietta Potter. She is survived by her nieces, Nancy Cooper Tabor of Charlotte, NC, Mary Lynn Cooper Felsburg of Columbia, SC, her nephew, Morris Davidson Cooper of Springfield, Ill., several great nephews and niece, and a very special friend, Lori Bradley of Pigeon Forge, TN. After retiring from teaching in the Oak Ridge, Tennessee school system, she became a resident of Gatlinburg, Tennessee where she was known for her love of weaving, spinning and dying yarn with natural dyes. Mary Frances taught at Arrowmont, was the author of The Dye Pot and a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild. She devoted her life to teaching and helping others. Giving of her time and knowledge was what delighted her most. She received her bachelor’s degree at University of West Virginia and her masters from Duke University. Through her life, her faith in the Lord was always strong. Mary Frances was a devoted member of the Gatlinburg Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held at 4 PM, Friday, May 24, 2002 at the Gatlinburg Presbyterian Church with Dr. Don Grohman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Gatlinburg Presbyterian Church, 237 Reagan Drive, Gatlinburg,TN, 37738. Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville,TN in charge of arrangements.
