Alva Nichols Cowart

Cowart, Alva Nichols, age 71, of Brevard, NC, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at her residence. She was a daughter of the late Laurence and Bessie Shook Nichols. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Grady Cowart in August of 2000. One son, Joseph L. Cowart of Brevard; three brothers, Willard Nichols of Cleveland, GA, Ralph Nichols of Hiawassee, GA, and Lex Nichols of Maryville, TN; five sisters, Mildred Woody of Hazel, NC, Mae Dills of Campobello, SC, Bonnie Edwards of Hiawassee, GA, Donnie Ellis of Hayesville, NC; and Florence Jenkins of Blairsville, NC; two grandchildren: Laurel Cowart Farrell of Brevard, NC and Holly Cowart of Charlotte, NC; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 3:00 PM at Beech Grove Baptist Church, Louisville, TN, with Rev. Kenny Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Alcoa, TN. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Saturday prior to the service at Beech Grove Baptist Church. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
