Rena Mae Jeffries Lawell

Lawell, Rena Mae Jeffries, age 91, of Knoxville passed away Friday March 8, 2002 at Brakebill Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Jeffries and Hazel Jones Jeffries Floyd and a sister, Blanche Jeffries.She was a graduate of Old Knoxville High School, class of 1927. In the 50’s and 60’s she was the bookkeeper for Justus and Co., and later City Tire Store. She was a deputy clerk in Knox County Chancery Court from 1967 to 1982 where she handled adoptions for many couples. Sons, James Lawell and wife Mildred of Knoxville, and Kenneth Lawell and wife Naomi of North St. Paul, Minnesota; grand- children, Brian Lawell and wife Sonhui of Okinawa, Japan; Tracy Lawell Haye of Mebane, N.C., David Lawell of Ellicott City, Maryland; Julie Wolfert and Larry Stevens of Middleburg, Florida; and eleven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday 8:00 p.m. at Berry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dave Ward officiating. Interment 11:00 AM Tuesday at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at Berry Funeral Home Chapman Highway.
