E. Vernon Oliver

Oliver, E. Vernon, age 79, of The Villages, Fla., formerly of Knoxville, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2002. He was a Navy officer (Ensign JG) serving during the Pacific Campaign. He was head of advertising for Metro Transit in Miami, Fla for a number of years later becoming the founder/operator of TeleLink Satellite Communications until his retirement. He is the proud recipient of a 50-year membership pin from the Charles H. McKinney Lodge, 433 F&AM.; He was an accomplished musician having played in a number of local bands as well as his own. During his service years, he played with the Dick Jergens Service Band in San Diego. After moving to Florida in the early sixties, his career was further realized by playing with the Miami Symphony Orchestra. He was well known in all areas for his musical ability. He was preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. John O. Oliver, Sr. Brother, John O. Oliver, Jr.; nephew, Richard Alan Oliver; great-nephew, William Hansen Oliver. Graveside service 11:00 AM Monday, Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. The is to be no visitation. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
