Marjorie D. Sherrod

Sherrod, Marjorie D., age 76, of Knoxville, passed away into Glory Wednesday, June 5, 2002. Long time member of First Lutheran Church. She was a riveter for the war effort, and a former telephone operator. Mrs. Sherrod married Ralph G. Sherrod in 1950 and started their family. She participated in many choral groups, the last one being the Knoxville Choral Society. She began her singing career at the age of four, singing with her twin brother in area churches then known as the Stone Twins. Preceded in death by parents, John and Bernice McCollum Stone; a twin brother, Jimmy Stone; brothers-in-law, Horace Clark, Bill Sherrod and Ray Trent; sisters-in-law, Hattie McCollum and Jenny Stone. Survivors other than her husband are: son and daughter-in-law, R. Douglas and Charol Sherrod of San Diego, CA; son, Stephen Sherrod of Alabama; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John McNair of Knoxville; granddaughters, Janice and Kayla McNair; brother, Andrew McCollum of Knoxville, John A. Stone and wife Bert of North Dakota; sister, June McCollum Clark of Knoxville; in laws from husbands family, Rosalie and David Cline, Dorothy Sherrod and Dorothy Trent; several nieces, nephews and their families. Funeral service 3:00 PM Saturday at Berry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Bushur officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at Berry Funeral Home. Mrs. Sherrod will be interred at the Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at a later time. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
