Billy Sunday King

King, Billy Sunday, age 86, passed away January 31, 2002 at NHC Ft. Sanders. Mr. King was retired from the United States Postal Service, World War II veteran receiving two purple hearts and a lifelong member of New Prospect Presbyterian Church, Knoxville. Mr. King was preceded in death by wife, Cuneda Fine King; mother and father, Ella and Audley King; brothers, Orville King, Burnette King, Audley Ray Jr. King, and John Blankenship King; sisters, Evelyn McClain and Bernice Thomas. Daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Randy Compton; grandchildren, Nick Compton and Lacey Fawver; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ryan, and Cobey; sister, Lou Thomas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elnora and Kenneth Brown, Peggy and Ben Henry; brother-in-law, Tommy E. Thomas and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at NHC Ft. Sanders for their loving care and patience. Funeral service 2:00 PM Sunday at New Prospect Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tom Warren officiating. Interment will follow in New Prospect Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The Volunteer Honor Guard will assist with the services. Memorials and contributions suggested to New Prospect Presbyterian Church, 6200 Sevierville Pike, Knoxville, Tenn. 37920. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
