Hassie Rule Reed

Reed, Hassie Rule, age 99, born January 1, 1903, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at University Hospital. Faithful member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. Employed by Camel Manufacturing and Wynn’s before retirement. Always ready to be part of life and community, she enjoyed years of attending senior citizens’ gatherings at Valley Grove, Galilee, Stock Creek and Meridian Baptist Churches and also the Grange. She lived life attending church, loving, hugging, cooking, enjoying family and friends while trying in all situations. Alert with good memory, she enjoyed reading and sewing until her eyesight made those a challenge. Preceded in death by husband in 1948, Clarence Rule and preceded in death in 1979 by husband, Bruce Reed; son, Troy Rule; parents Partie and George Wilson; sister, Hattie Jane Hodges; brothers, Cecil, Carl and Clyde. Son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Jane Rule of Knoxville; daughter, Pauline Lane of Knoxville; daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Charles Armour of La Vergne, TN; Alma and Jim Millaway of Hixson, TN; and Anna Ruth and Charles Vandergriff of Knoxville; sister, Hazel Latham of Sevierville; sisters-in-law, Lela Wilson of Louisville and Virgie Wilson of Maryville; extended children, Anna and Theodore Benson, Velma and Jack Graves, Esta and Stearl Johnson, Zelma and Garland Rogers, and Barbara Moore; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Funeral 1:00 PM Friday at Valley Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Tucker officiating. Interment Valley Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons. In lieu of flowers, you may contribute to Valley Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday at Berry Funeral Home and from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM Friday at Valley Grove Baptist Church.
