Frances Parks Crisp

Crisp, Frances Parks, age 79, of West Knoxville, formerly of South Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at Park West Medical Center. She was a graduate of Central High School “Class of 39” where she was one of only two cheerleaders. She attended the University of Tennessee and was an avid reader, internet user, bird watcher and animal lover. Member of First Baptist Church of Concord and founder of Medical Secretarial School at the Acuff Clinic. Organized Medical Secretarial School at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was Medical Records Director at East TN Baptist Hospital and organized Knoxville Medical Record Association and twice acted as President. Treasurer of TN Medical Record Association and secretary of Southeastern Medical Record Association. She was a member of Roane State College Medical Record Board and a member of American Medical Record Association Committee. Medical Record Consultant to six area nursing homes and two hospitals and served two terms on United Way Board. Preceded in death by beloved husband of 47 years, George W. “Lefty” Crisp; sister, Mary Lou Ray; brother, Frank Parks; parents, Mary Frances “Nanny” Parks and Frank Parks. Daughters & sons-in-law: Pamela and Ronald Clark of Knoxville; Priscilla and Robert Beard of Knoxville; son & daughter-in-law, Michael and Janet Crisp of Merlin, Oregon; sister, Betty Ordway of Daytona Beach, Florida; sister-in-law, Dorothy Sams of Knoxville; grandchildren: Leslie and Gary Reeves, Ron and Missy Clark, Heather and David Potter, Lisa Beard, Missy and Mike Fierley, Paige and Mike DeFreece, Dustye and Clint McCarty, all of Knoxville, and Michael and Andrea Crisp of Merlin, Oregon; 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; Mary Lou Kimball, dear friend and caretaker. Funeral service 7:00 PM Friday, Berry Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Steve Peek of First Baptist Concord, officiating. Interment 11:00 AM Saturday at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
