Wilbur Stiegler

Wilbur “Will” Stiegler, age 70, of Sevierville (Wears Valley), Tn. passed away at home on Feb. 3, 2002 after a brief but very brave battle with cancer. He was a Catholic. A native of Connecticut, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. He and his wife relocated to Florida and spent 43 years there before coming to Wears Valley in 1999. Will served 24 years in law enforcement. He graduated from the 95th Session of the FBI Academy in 1973 and received his BA degree in Criminal Justice from St. Leo College in Florida in 1976. After retiring from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in 1981, he owned and operated his own transportation business until his full retirement in 1993. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kathleen, and his daughter, Cheryl, both of Wears Valley and by his brother, Charles, of Ft. Myers, Fl. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 1 P.M. Thursday in the Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home. Father Jay Flaherty officiating. Interment will follow in Middle Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M.
