Moody, Carsten (C.B.) Bringloe, Jr. -age 75 of Friendsville, a long time Knoxville television engineer, passed away Monday night at U.T. Hospital, following a brief illness. He was a graduate of the Georgia Military College and earned a degree in electronics from the Devry Institute in Chicago. He served his country with two stints in the military, first in the Coast Guard and later in the Army. Moody's first job in TV was with a television station in Chattanooga. In the mid-fifties he was hired by WATE TV in Knoxville as Assistant Chief Engineer. His skills soon caught the attention of the Radio Corporation of America. He was hired by RCA as a Field Representative based out of Memphis but traveled the Eastern United States helping to set up RCA video installations at the major networks and even in the White House. The lure of East Tennessee brought him back to Knoxville in the late 60's and employment with WBIR TV. He served as a transmitter engineer and video operator in control room operations for WBIR until his retirement 10 years ago. Throughout his adult life, Moody was a strong boating enthusiast. For many years he was a member of Knoxville famed precision boating team, "The Flying Boatmen," and was recently featured on a Heartland Series episode about the boating team. With his wife, Joy, he became enamored with larger boats in recent years and owned big cruisers and houseboats. Only recently, he and Joy moved from their mountaintop home in South Knoxville to a smaller lakefront home in Friendsville where they could park their 47' houseboat at their own dock. A native of Georgia but a resident of Knoxville for almost 50 years, Moody was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Norma Beeler Moody. He is survived by his wife, Joy; son, Carsten Moody III; stepchildren; and to his delight, step-grandchildren; and sister, Julia May of Norcross, Georgia. Memorial service 8:00 p.m. Friday, Berry Chapel, with Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meridian Baptist Church Youth Fund, 6513 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. www.berryfuneralhome.com
