David Paul (Smiley) Spurling, age 40 of Sevierville went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 25, 2002. He was a 21 year employee of Activated Metals in Sevierville. He was preceded in death by parents Charles and Eula Spurling; Infant brothers Charles Robert and Rocky Dean Spurling; grandparents Lige and Minnie Spurling, Harvey and Louisa Payne ; uncle Howard Spurling. Survivors: Wife: Veda Lynn Spurling Step-mother: Edna Spurling Father-in-law: L.C. Gosnell Brother: Bill Spurling Brother and sister-in-law: Tom and Dorothy Spurling Sisters and brothers-in-law: Carolyn and Junior Teaster, Katherine and Gene Starkey, Sharon and Herman Adams, Wilma and Gary Newcomb, Robin and Dean Morris Sisters: Patricia McCandless, Rosie Owens Brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Danny and Libby Gosnell, Angie and Chris Rimmer Brother-in-law: Chris Gosnell Special aunt and uncle: Frank and Mary Spurling Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews Special great-nieces: Kayla, Alyssa and Eva Special friends: Dennis Cushman and workers at Activated Metals, flea market friends, Danny Bailey and many others. Funeral service 2 PM Wednesday at Hurst Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Ogle and Rev. Ernie Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Hurst Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy, Mike and Andy Spurling, Kent Teaster, Danny and Chris Gosnell. The family will receive friends 6-9 PM Tuesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
