Iris Louise Marshall Newman

Iris Louise Marshall Newman, 76, of Sevierville went home to be with her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday August 24, 2002. Iris was a dedicated and faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Gatlinburg where she served as organist for 30 years. She was currently a member of First United Methodist Church of Sevierville. Iris, a retired organ and piano teacher for 40 years, was a member of the Knoxville Organ Guild. In 1980 Iris opened the Barn Owl, the only Hallmark store in Pigeon Forge. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy C. Newman; parents Mack T. and Minnie Belle Marshall; brother, Mack Marshall and sister Gladys Plunkett. Survivors: Son: Roy Kent Newman Grandson: Ted K. Newman and wife Teri Great Grandsons: Thomas and Tucker Newman Sisters –in-law: Agnes Marshall, Marie Newman, Willie Mae Henderson Several nieces and nephews Her very special extended family included Dwight E. Maples and family, Georgeanna Morgan, Judy Bales and her “Girls” at the Barn Owl. Funeral service 10AM Tuesday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Brady officiating. Interment will follow in Middle Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9PM Monday at Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com) In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Sevierville, Music Fund. Iris will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
