John Clifford ''Buck'' Rutledge

John Clifford “Buck” Rutledge, Sr, age 89 of Sevierville died Saturday, September 29, 2001. He was of the Baptist faith. He retired from Cherokee Textile Mills after 50 years of service. He was retired from the City of Sevierville Department of Parks and Recreation. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army. He was a charter member of the Sevier County Rescue Squad and a former Sevier County deputy sheriff. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Lillie Rutledge, grandson, Jeff Rutledge and sister, Hazel Stewart Survivors: Wife of 61 years: Evelyn Rutledge Daughters & Sons-in-law: Sandy & Bob Ogle Carol Suzette “Sue” & Johnny Hickam Sons & Daughters-in-law: Rick & Helen Rutledge Johnny & Shelia Rutledge Granddaughters: Missy Proffitt & husband Todd Leslie Kelch & husband Eric Amy Marshall & husband Jimmy Fred Christy Hickam Grandsons: Mark Rutledge & wife Diana John Hickam Rhett Rutledge Great Grandchildren: Peyton, Sydney, & Parker Proffitt Chase Hickam Chelsea & Brandon Rutledge Tye Marshall Niece: Dot Goodwin Funeral service 7 PM Monday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Grandson Mark Rutledge officiating, and eulogies by Judge Gary Wade and Judge Rex Henry Ogle. Interment 10 AM Tuesday in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be John Hickam, Rhett Rutledge, Dr. John Rader, Todd Proffitt, Eric Kelch, and Jimmy Fred Marshall. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Rolen, Bob McCarter, Wayne Johnson, Dobber Whaley, John Lee and Bob Parker. The family will receive friends 4-7 PM at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
