Charles Edward Johnson

Johnson, Charles Edward, age 68, of South Knoxville, passed away Monday, November 19, 2001 at home. Member, deacon and elder of Graystone Presbyterian Church. Former member of West Knoxville Kiwanis. He was a retired Senior Vice President of Valley Bank. He was a staff sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. He played offensive end on the 1951 U.T. National Championship Team and remained an avid Volunteer Fan. Preceded in death by his mother, Louise Chattin Johnson; and father, Louis B. “Farmer” Johnson. Wife, Charlotte Ann Carey Johnson; son & daughter-in-law, Mark and Lisa Johnson; sister, June Broome; brother, David Johnson; a host of friends. Graveside interment 12:00 Noon Wednesday at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Mark Knisley officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Graystone Presbyterian Church, 139 Woodlawn Pike, Knoxville, TN, 37920 or the American Heart Association, East Region, 4708 Papermill Drive, Knoxville, TN 37909. Friends may call at their convenience Tuesday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
