Ferrris Anderson Thomas

Thomas, Ferris, age 88, of Maryville, passed away Friday March 30, 2001 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Preceded in death by wife, Ruth Thomas in 1997. Ferris began his interest in aviation in high school with model airplanes. He soloed in 1932 and was a Captain in the Air Transport Command during World War II. After the war he flew for Kerns Bakery for 20 years and after his retirement he developed the Montvale Airpark in Maryville. Survivors:Son: Ferris "Andy" Thomas, Jr.; grandson, Jeremiah Edward Thomas; brothers, Robert Thomas of FL, Leon Thomas of Knoxville and Perry Thomas of FL. Funeral 8:00 p.m. Sunday Berry Chapel with Pastor David Dodson officiating. Interment 11:00 a.m. Monday at Woodlawn Cemetery.
