LOY, MARSHALL H. "HAWKIE" - age 82, of Corryton, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2001. A member of Rutherford Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a farmer in the Corryton Community. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, fighting in the Normandy Invasion and through Northern France, and receiving two bronze stars. He also received The American Theater Ribbon, American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Ribbon, and World War II Victory Medal. He was preceded in death by parents, Grover and Mossie Loy, and brothers, Slick and Albert Loy. Survivors: wife of 54 years, Alene Ervin Loy; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and David McMurray; grandchildren, Derek McMurray and wife Leslie, and Davey McMurray and fiance' Mandi Wardrep; great-grandson, D.J. McMurray; brothers, Earl and Ford Loy; sisters, Mary Karnes and Ruth Roberts; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral service Wednesday 8 p.m. at Lynnhurst Greenwood Chapel with Rev. Joe Black officiating. Pallbearers will be John, Steve, and Bud Loy, Keith and Terry Roberts, and Mark Karnes. Interment 11 a.m. Thursday at Lynnhurst Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Lynnhurst Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 W. Adair Dr. lynnhurstchapel.com
