DUGGAN, RALPH ELLIS, SR. - age 76, of Encino, Calif., formerly of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Encino Hospital, following a lingering illness. He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Kearny, during World War II. Preceded in death by parents, George and Cora Hazel Anderson Duggan; brothers, William T. and Wilfred; sisters, Christine Appleby, Louise Graham, and Sadie Palmer, and grandson, Jerry William Harrison. Survivors: wife of 53 years, Mary Burkhart Duggan; sons, Ralph Jr. and wife Barbara of San Antonio, Texas, and George of Knoxville; daughters, Etta McGill of Riverdale, Ga., Ann and husband John Hensley of Knoxville, and Judi and husband Larry Bowman of Jonesboro, Ga.; brother, Charles and wife Jewell Duggan; sisters, Nell and husband Earl Jarrett, Mary and husband Taylor Jackson, and Katherine Shofner of Knoxville; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Special friends, Paul Novis of Knoxville, Warren and Penny Gilbert of Sherman Oaks, Calif., Pete Rader of Knoxville, Vance and Nordeen Weisheit of Connecticut, Bill and Shirley Hanggie of Woodland Hills, Calif., and a host of other special friends and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside service 1 p.m. Saturday, Lynnhurst Cemetery with Rev. Bill Goosie officiating. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 W. Adair Dr.
