ECON, ERNEST C., age 86, of Knoxville, died suddenly Wednesday, July 25, 2001. Member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Veteran of World War II and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Constance Econ; Sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Barbara Econ of Long Island, NY and John and Joan Econ of Saxonburg, PA; Grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer, Lisa and David; Great-grandchildren, Arianna, Matthew, Jacob, Emily, Dalton and Alyssa. Sister, Catherine Morgan of Durham, NC. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral service Saturday 11:00 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church with Father Michael Platanis officiating; Frank Kotsianas, Chantor. Pallbearers will be members of The East Tennessee State Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will follow at Lynnhurst Cemetery with full military honors by East Tennessee State Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to St. George Theotokos Fund or the Nativity of the Theotokos Monastery, 121 St. Elias Lane, Saxonburg, PA 16056. The family will receive friends Friday 7-9 p.m. with Trisagion Service at 8 :00 p.m. at LYNNHURST GREENWOOD CHAPEL of Berry Funeral Home.
