Henry Woodward Wylie

Wylie, Henry Woodward, age 94 died peacefully at the Holston Health and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, July 18. He was a graduate of Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass., and Yale University, 1929, at which he played on both the soccer and wrestling teams. He served in the Navy in WWII, and worked for Anaconda American Brass Company until his retirement. He was an avid golfer at Greenwoods County Club and baseball fan. Preceded in death by his wife, Laura R. Wylie; sister, Martha Smith, and brother Sidney Wylie. He leaves his son, John and wife Clare Wylie of Knoxville; grandsons and wives, Randy and Jenni Wylie of Knoxville, Tag and Sara Wylie of Roaring Gap, NC, and Rusty and Amy Wylie and great-granddaughter Kelsey Elizabeth Wylie of Katy, TX; his “buddies”, the Wylie dogs and special friend, Cathy Oglesby. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Knoxville Junior Golf Association, 5311 Beverly Park Circle, Knoxville, TN 37918. Family will receive friends 4:30-5:30 p.m. Saturday at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, W. Adair Drive, which will include a short memorial service. www.lynnhurstchapel.com.
