Burton Hodges

Hodges, Burton, age 83, went to be with the Lord, Monday, January 8, 2001. A long time member of Forest Grove Freewill Baptist Church. Retired from Rohm & Haas. In his early years he played triple A ball with Elizabethton & progressed to Memphis & Philadelphia. His career was interrupted by WW II, where he was in special services in Japan. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Florence Hodges, seven brothers & sisters. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy A. Hodges; daughter & son-in-law: Connie & Jack Cardwell; son: Michael Hodges; grandchildren: Matt Cardwell, Anita Biggs & husband, Kevin; Billy Julian & wife, Amy; great-grandchildren: Ashley & Chloe Biggs. Funeral service 8:00 PM Wednesday at Berry Chapel with Rev. Travis Sturgill & Rev. Harley Brown officiating. Interment 11:00 AM Thursday, Forest Grove Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Matt Cardwell, Billy Julian, Phillip Hodges, Kevin Biggs, Johnny Houser, Doug Rhoades. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Forest Grove Freewill Baptist Church organ fund.
