Martha Sue Dukes-Hurst

Dukes-Hurst, Martha Sue, age 61, of South Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at her home. Member of Meridian Baptist Church. She was a graduate and valedictorian of South High School as well as president of the Honor Society, president of the Glee Club, captain of the cheerleaders and Miss South High School 1958. She also received an academic scholarship to the University of Tennessee. Preceded in death by parents, Rufus (Pap) and Martha Dukes; and brother, Mike Dukes. Son & daughter-in-law, Dusty and Dana Hurst; sons, Rock and Casey Hurst; granddaughters, Ali and Abbie Hurst; brothers: Tom Dukes and wife, Barbara; Bob Dukes and wife, Linda; Rick Dukes; half-sister: Shirley; former husband and best friend, Al Hurst; several nieces and nephews. Memorial service 2:00 PM Sunday at Berry Chapel with Brother Bob Dukes officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM before the service in the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
