ELKINS, LOIS P. - age 85, of Fountain City, passed away Monday, April 23, 2001, at the residence of her niece in Powell. She was formerly of the Robertsville Community, now a part of Oak Ridge. She moved to the Fountain City area in 1942, after the family farm was taken over by the Manhattan Project. She was a 1935 graduate of Robertsville High School. Member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City for 56 years. She was employed for many years by Minnewawa Label Manufacturing Company. Member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening and caring for her home and family. Preceded in death by parents, Harvey and Mary Etta Elkins; brothers, Bell, Lon, Tom, Buck, Dennis, Harvey, Robert, Charles and beloved sister, Grace. Survivors: nephew, Ralph Elkins of Knoxville; niece, Marietta Lawhorn of Ventura, Calif.; niece, Mary E. and husband Arthur Barker of Powell; great nephews, Robert T. Barker and wife Nicol of Powell, and Ensign Perry R. Barker of Camp LeJeune, N.C Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel with Rev. Ronald Mouser officiating. Interment in Lynnhurst Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Baptist Hospice, P. O. Box 22, Knoxville, TN 37901, or Central Baptist Church of Fountain City. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 W. Adair Dr.
