Martha Jane Houser Spangler

SPANGLER, MARTHA JANE HOUSER - age 95, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2001, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. She was a charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Mrs. Spangler was one of fourteen children of Charles F. and Fannie Murphy Houser. She was preceded in death by husband, Sanford Lester Spangler, Sr. Survivors: children, Helen Ruth Sands of Columbia, S.C., Rev. S. L. Spangler, Jr. of Seymour, Elizabeth Jane White of Knoxville, Charlsie Ann Wenzinger of Pacific City, Oreg., Marvin Wayne Spangler of Valrico, Fla., Phyllis Rose Ogle of Canton, Ga., Martha Christine Krosnes of Germantown, Tenn.; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers, Merl Houser of Knoxville and Joe Houser of Maryville; sisters, Ruth Houser of Knoxville and Mary Paar of Houston, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 6632 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920. Funeral services will be conducted 8 p.m. Monday at Berry Chapel with Rev. Howard Palm officiating. Graveside services and interment will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Cemetery.
