Mary Evelyn Horne Wilson

Wilson, Mary Evelyn Horne, age 83, born August 13, 1916, died July 16, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital. Daughter of William Henry Horne and Flora Mae Smith Horne. Married Buford Edgar Wilson on April 16, 1933. They were blessed with six children; 3 boys and 3 girls, Kyle, Carolyn, Bobbie, Kenny, Sharon, and Terry. From the marriages of her children she welcomed into her life 21 grandchildren. From the marriages of her grandchildren she was "abundantly" blessed with 58 great-grandchildren, all of whom either called her Mamaw Wilson or GreatMamaw Wilson, except for one little one, Miranda, who called her "GrandMommy." She worked in retail sales during her working years. She was a charter member of Buffat Heights Baptist Church, being saved and baptized when she was 17 years old and expecting her first child, Kyle. At 83, she continued to worship each Sunday with this same body of believers until her death. She was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class. Preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Cecil and Earl Horne, her sisters, Cleo Horne, Velda Newman, and Nellie Davis, her husband, Buford Edgar Wilson, her son, Kenneth Eugene Wilson, and her son-in-law, Bill Duckett. Survived by her children: Kyle and Beverly Wilson, Knoxville; Dr. Charles and Carolyn Wilson Mainous, Columbus, OH; Bobbie Duckett, Knoxville; Al and Sharon Wilson Blancas, Springhill, FL; Terry and Brooke Wilson, Maryville, TN.; Judy Wilson Hurt, widow of Kenneth E. Wilson. 21 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 19, 2000 at Buffat Heights Baptist Church, 2101 Ault Road, Knoxville, Tn. with Dr. Dana Mathewson and Dr. Charles Mainous officiating. Interment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Alcoa Hwy., Knoxville, TN. Family will receive friends Tuesday July 18, 6:00-9:00 P.M. at Lynnhurst Greenwood Chapel, 2300 W. Adair Dr. Pallbearers will be grandsons. "She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed. Give her the reward she has earned and let her works bring her praise at the City Gate." Proverbs 31:27, 28, 31. Mother, we will always love you and hold you in our hearts.
